Tammy Turner Office Manager

Tammy was born and raised in Pendleton, Oregon, and has lived in a variety of places. She went to school in Boise, Idaho where she earned her Paralegal Certificate from ITT, and later spent years living in both San Antonio, Texas and the Willamette Valley of Oregon.

When she was a teenager, Tammy’s first job was working at her father’s grocery store performing important tasks unique to the time, such as sorting the pop bottles customers returned for their deposit credit. Tammy would sort the bottles by distributor (Coke, Pepsi, 7-Up, etc.) and the distributors would collect the bottles to be sanitized and reused and give the store their deposit credit.

A natural pioneer, Tammy was one of the first “box girls” before there even was such a thing. At the time, there were only “box boys” who bagged and carried out groceries for customers. 

Throughout her career, Tammy has primarily worked in the accounting world (25 years), specializing in wealth management and tax solutions. She is also an experienced business owner (seven years) and owned a small business with her husband before coming to Varela.

Tammy’s strong background of working with numbers, dealing in details and highly sensitive information, and taking care of clients and their needs, enables her to truly excel in her work at Varela.

Among other things, Tammy manages the bidding process for jobs and administrates the labor compliance for construction projects, both of which require shrewd attention to detail and organization.

Thanks to her experience in small business management, she deftly balances managing the administration of multiple projects while being the day-to-day go-to person for just about everything from preparing SOQ’s to organizing and booking events for the firm.

Tammy has a fantastic sense of humor and warmth about her that she extends to coworkers and clients. Her customer service skills are unparalleled, as anyone knows who has called our office and reached Tammy.

She has a lot of life experience and is willing to share it with others — she’s a great mentor to our interns and younger employees and looks out for everyone in the office.

Happiest when surrounded by those she loves,Tammy enjoys spending time with her family — especially her two young granddaughters. She also enjoys reading, gardening, and cooking. She especially loves preparing Mexican dishes and she makes some mean carne asada — yum!

When she’s not in the office, Tammy can be found enjoying action or sci-fi movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Kill Bill, or anything by Quentin Tarantino.
