Bas was born and raised in Cheney, WA. He graduated from Cheney High School, where he ran cross country, track, and played soccer for the Blackhawks. In 2016, Bas worked for Varela on our road rating crew. After a couple years of working on a residential construction crew, he returned to Varela.

Bas spends most of his time outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies include going on long runs, fishing, and backpacking/hiking with his girlfriend, Madi, and their dogs, Gus and Mei. Traveling is a big part of his life, from weekend trips into the Idaho mountains, driving to Mexico and back every spring break, and flying to Europe every summer to spend time with family and to explore new countries.
