“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” –  John F. Kennedy

Background

3rd generation Varela employee.

Logan was born and raised in Spokane. As the oldest of seven siblings, he grew up learning how to lead and serve others early on. At age 15, he and his brother started a surprisingly profitable yard business.

Logan first started working for Varela in 2023 on the summer road rating crew. He’s worked in the field as an on-site inspector and in the office on various funding and transportation projects. He continues to work during school breaks while pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Washington State University.

Interests

In his free time, Logan likes to ski, mountain bike, and train in jiu-jitsu. He’s also recently picked up golf, much to his Uncle Jesse’s delight.

Logan has been on two short-term mission trips to Mexico. While there, he served several local churches and their surrounding communities by working on construction projects, handing out food to the poor, and generally being an encourager.

When he’s not at school or work, Logan spends his time serving his family and community. He volunteers as a leader in his church’s youth group every week, and he serves as a cabin leader at UGM camps during the summer. On Sunday mornings, if he’s not playing piano in the worship band, he’s running sound for the band.
